School of Design Website Redesign
Client
The School of Design, Carnegie Mellon University
Challenge
The School of Design website has not been updated from its homegrown PHP CMS since 2006. While impressive for it’s time, the site is outdated and no longer reflected what was happening at the School. Additionally, the School had no intranet to share resources, calendars, or student work.
Solution
Drupal was chosen for the content management system, allowing scalability, flexibility and modular functionality. In addition to providing vital information to the community, the Intranet serves as an entry point for providing data to the external site. Additionally, the interface for documenting project work will be collect student data, and workflow will support what, how, and when the content goes to the external site.
The visual design, based on a senior student project, has been refined and expanded to showcase the rich visual information archives of the School.
